My Work.
Introduction
Becoming a senior is a very interesting experience for me, I have a lot more responsibilities now, to name a few: I have to find myself a job, self a college class and prepare to go to college, and finally I have to write this essay and make a website. But despite all of that I have say looking back at the person I was before i’m happy with all the progress that I've made as a student at Aclc. But becoming a senior was not an task so I will be writing about my experience if becoming a senior at Aclc.
Personal Qualities, work habits and attitudes
When I first came to Aclc I was a shy, unsociable, and I knew nothing about a job or what I was going to do when I reached senior year. On my first week of school I had already become acquainted with my class aka the people I would be graduating with and that really helped me get over my shyness and really helped me become more sociable as a person, now as a kid I wasn’t very confident and I really didn’t see myself as a strong or courageous person. But as I grew up the people around me were always telling what a great leader I was of course I didn’t believe them but eventually I started to see myself differently I started to see how brave I could be if I just focused and didn’t let myself fall into the well of despair, which I felt like I would always fall into and have to get pulled out of. But one day my teacher told me about meditation and how it could help me, so I tried it and after a couple of weeks of teachings I change as a person what used to be a shy naive fool was now a strong leader who helped who ever he could, whenever he could. Of course I still have the well of despair just waiting for me to fall in and I hate to admit this but I didn’t learn much about careers until I was in 10th grade and even then I didn’t know much. The way I learned about was from an assignment we did in Lynn's class where we decided what jobs we wanted to do when we grow up and then learn what we have to do to get those jobs, and that well I just kept researching and researching trying to find out as much as I could. And what do you know after a few weeks in English 3 and well here I am the new and improved Tobias K Cochran.
New Basics
To start things off I have a good understanding of the English language mostly because I was born and raised in the U.S so the first ever language I learned was English, also I have gone and passed English 1-4 so I know more than the average student. I’ve also learned and taken Spanish 1 and 2 so I know how to speak and read another language as is required. I wouldn’t call myself a good writer nor a great one but if asked I will be able to write an essay worthy of a college student's approval, it took me awhile to get to this level of skill and I still have improving to do. People have often called me a good listener who understands what they're saying and knows how to properly respond to their questions, and of course after listening i’m very good at responding to them with organized thoughts and ideas, people told me that I would make a good public speaker but I don’t agree with them on that regard. Mostly because I don’t know how to address the crowd and keep their attention and frankly the biggest group I've ever addressed was a group of fifteen students. But as time goes on maybe one day i’ll be able to.
Thinking and Reasoning Skills
I’m a creative thinker which means i’m very good at coming with dreams and plans for the future of course creative thinking isn’t the best when you need an idea on the fly, but creative thing is a good when you're doing a group project and your team needs to come up with an idea. But I do not think creatively all the time no I do now when thinking in a way people would call, system thinking, I do now when the time calls for that type of thinking and not the latter, But i’m not the best at this well to clarify i’m no good at system thinking unless I have all the information I need let me explain imagine you’re doing a project with your friends and idea is you need to make a rollercoaster but to make the roller coaster work you need to know: how heavy the ball the all is, and how durable the said wire that the ball is going is roll on is. If I know this information then I can make you a rollercoaster but if I don’t have this information then we're going to be getting a C on the project like my group did. This could also could describe my skill in problem solving.
Interpersonal Abilities
I’m a very good negotiator when it comes to calming people down and coming up with an alternative. Sometimes during Molly's class we will have a debate on various topics, these topics often come from the text were currently reading for example when we were reading Mice and Men we had a debate about if what a character did was right or wrong, and I was one of the main negotiators for this debate. There was no winner but or side had quite a bit of people. Speaking of this many of the people I worked with had diverse backgrounds something i’m quite good at, frankly I don’t mind where you come from or what you believe in I don’t mind because people are people no matter what a person is a person. Finally as I stated earlier about us having debates in Molly's class those take a lot of cooperation between teammates and frankly i’m not too bad at working with others, I say not too bad because if I don’t know the person i’m working with I tend to get very awkward and shy of course the changes after I get to know them, but still it takes a bit of time.
Technology
I’m going to admit this i’m not the best when it comes to technology I mean I understand how most technology works but I don’t know about every piece of tech, but I do know how to maintain and keep technology running at 100%, I know this from my dad who taught me and told me how to spot when something is wrong and how to properly fix it. But that's not all I also know which technology to pick at a certain time and how to use it to complete the task at hand. An example of this is when my computer broke I did everything I could to make it work again and I did I fixed my computer to the best of my ability of course I still had to take it into the store so they could fix what I couldn’t.
Conclusion
In conclusion over the years I spent at Aclc I fundamentally changed as person for the better, I learned how to be a leader, I learned to negotiate, and I learned much more about technology than I knew before coming to this school, And I have to say that i’m very happy with how I changed after coming to this school.
